Building Search - Grand Rapids 2026
Our current Grand Rapids location is no longer available for us this fall. We are looking for a new home!
What We're Looking For
What We're Looking For
- Weekly Availability: Wednesdays (we only meet 1 day per week) from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 or 6:00 p.m. Our setup crew arrives between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m., with teardown beginning around 4:00 p.m. and wrapping after the final classes end at 4:30 p.m. We clean up after ourselves - our goal is to make it seem like we were never there.
- Storage: We require space for large equipment that cannot be transported in and out each week, including timpani, chimes, drum sets, chairs, music stands and similar items. Storage needs has been one of our biggest challenges in finding a location that fits our needs.
- Location: We are looking for something easy to get to. Ideally, it would be near the Interstate ring around Grand Rapids to provide easy access for as many people as possible. Over the years, we have been located at the homeschool building (52nd and Gezon), the former South Christian School (now the Special Olympics building), and currently Corinth Reformed Church (100th and Division). Most of our families live in the greater Grand Rapids area, though some travel from 20–30 miles in every direction. Because we already have a Kalamazoo location, we'd prefer to stay north of 100th Street.
- Space: Approximately 40,000 square feet, including rooms of various sizes. A mid-to-large church or school typically meets our needs. We serve more than 450 students who rotate through classes throughout the day. Our maximum classroom need includes two large rooms for bands, two medium rooms for orchestras, and multiple small rooms for private lessons, chair testing, and small ensembles. We also need a large area for families to hang out during the day. One of the rooms needs to have a large ceiling for color guard classes tossing their flags.
- Affordability: As a non-profit organization, our goal is to keep our class fees as low as possible so that as many families as possible can participate. We either need a very affordable lease or very generous donors who can provide a building or cover most of the lease.
