Music Guidance Survey
This survey is designed to test your student's aptitude for music. It will test their ability to detect pitches, patterns, and rhythms. It is absolutely essential that your student not be given any help to complete this test. If the student does not complete it by themselves, it cannot give an accurate assessment of the student's strengths and weaknesses. The results will be used by the instructors during the instrument fitting to help guide your student to an instrument on which they can have the best chance of success.

Your child will need to listen to some audio files as you take the assessment, so be sure your child is in a quiet room and has the speaker turned up or is using headphones. This test will take about 30 minutes to complete. It is not at all difficult. It involves listening to 60 different pair of sounds and determining if they are the same or different, higher or lower.
